Dschuang Dsi

Dschuang Dsi (4th century BCE) was a Chinese philosopher of the Daoist tradition. He is credited with having written large parts of the work known by his name, the “Dschuang Dsi.” Little is known about his life. According to tradition, he held government office only briefly and otherwise led a secluded, modest life. He is also said to have frequently debated the influential sophist Hui Dsi. As a thinker in the tradition of Laozi, Dschuang Dsi criticized certain developments in Confucianism while retaining respect for Confucius.
