Dr. Manfred Baur was born in 1959 in Marktoberdorf in the Allgäu region of Germany. He studied chemistry, logic and philosophy of science, and earned a doctorate in chemistry. He subsequently worked as a research assistant in semiconductor development. From 1993 onward, he worked as a documentary filmmaker and science journalist, focusing on natural sciences, technology and history. Baur is the father of two children.
