Douglas Adams (1952–2001), born in Cambridge, was a British writer. He is best known for „The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy“, which began as a radio series and was later adapted into novels, a television series, video games and other formats. He also wrote the „Dirk Gently“ novels and nonfiction, including „Last Chance to See“, and worked in radio and television. Before establishing himself as a writer, he wrote sketches for a theatre club whose members included future Monty Python performers.
