Dorit Linke

Dorit Linke was born in Rostock in 1971 and grew up in East Germany. She studied landscape planning in Berlin before becoming a children’s and young adult author. Her novels focus particularly on East Germany, the political changes of the late 1980s, and the experiences of her generation. Linke took part in the Monday demonstrations and was 18 when the Berlin Wall fell. Her books have been nominated for the German Children’s and Young Adult Literature Prize and included on the IBBY Honour List and the White Ravens list; she has also received the Goldener Bücherpirat and Leipziger Lesekompass awards. In 2023, she was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for her political and literary educational work.
