Dirk Steffens is a German science journalist, documentary filmmaker, television presenter and author whose work focuses on environmental and natural-history topics. From 2022 onward, he worked for the film and print editorial departments of »GEO«. Together with Fritz Habekuß, he published the books »Über Leben« (2020) and »Projekt Zukunft« (2021), both of which became bestsellers. His honors include the Federal Cross of Merit, the Heinz Sielmann Honorary Award, the Walter Scheel Prize, the Golden Camera and the German Television Award. The University of Bayreuth awarded him an honorary doctorate in geosciences.
