Dirk Reinhardt

Dirk Reinhardt, born in 1963 in Bergneustadt, is a German historian and author of children’s and young adult fiction. He studied German and history and earned a doctorate in history. Until 1994, he worked as a research associate at the University of Münster, followed by work as a freelance journalist. His first children’s and young adult book was published in 2009. His notable novels include “Edelweißpiraten,” “Train Kids,” and “Über die Berge und über das Meer.” For “Train Kids,” Reinhardt conducted on-site research into the situation of young migrants in Mexico. In 2016, he received the Friedrich Gerstäcker Prize for Young Adult Literature.
