Dina Nayeri was born in Iran during the Islamic Revolution and emigrated to the United States at the age of ten. She studied at Princeton University and Harvard University and attended the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Her debut novel, A Teaspoon of Earth and Sea, has been translated into 14 languages. Her narrative nonfiction book The Ungrateful Refugee received the Geschwister-Scholl Prize. Nayeri has also received the O. Henry Prize and the UNESCO City of Literature Paul Engle Prize.
