Dietmar Elger

Dietmar Elger studied art history, history and literature at the University of Hamburg. In 1984–85, he managed Gerhard Richter’s studio and worked on the artist’s catalogue raisonné. From 1989 to 2006, Elger was curator of painting and sculpture at the Sprengel Museum Hannover, where he organized numerous exhibitions of modern and contemporary art. In 2006, he became head of the Gerhard Richter Archive at the Dresden State Art Collections. His publications include Expressionism, Dadaism and Abstract Art.
