Detlef Urhahne studied business administration and psychology at Bielefeld University. From 1998, he worked as a research associate at the Leibniz Institute for Science and Mathematics Education (IPN) at Kiel University. After completing his doctorate, he moved in 2001 to the Department of Biology Education at the University of Munich, where he worked as a research assistant.
