Derib

Derib, born Claude de Ribaupierre in 1944 in La Tour-de-Peilz, Vaud, was a Swiss comics artist. He began his career as an artist in an advertising agency and joined Peyo’s studio in Brussels in 1965, where he contributed to The Smurfs. His early independent series included “Attila” and “The Adventures of Pythagoras.” He became best known as the artist and co-creator of “Yakari.” His other works include “Buddy Longway,” “The Shaman’s Path,” and “Red Road.” In later comics, he also addressed social issues such as AIDS and prostitution.
