Dennis Hopper

Dennis Hopper (1936–2010) was an American artist, actor, director, and screenwriter. He became known for his roles in Rebel Without a Cause (1955) and Giant (1956). With Easy Rider (1969), which he directed, co-wrote, and starred in, he helped shape American cinema. His other notable films included Apocalypse Now (1979), Blue Velvet (1986), True Romance (1993), and Elegy (2008). Hopper began painting as a child and turned to photography in 1961; his paintings and photographs were exhibited internationally. He died on May 29, 2010, in Venice, California.
