David Unger is a writer and translator associated with Guatemala and the United States. In 2014, he received Guatemala’s Miguel Ángel Asturias Literary Prize for lifetime achievement. His novels include The Price of Escape, Para Mi, Eres Divina, Ni chicha, ni limonada, Life in the Damn Tropics, and The Mastermind (2016), which was translated into ten languages. Unger translated 18 books, including works by Miguel Ángel Asturias, Rigoberta Menchú, Nicanor Parra, and Mario Benedetti. His short stories and essays appeared in publications including The Paris Review.
