David Lodge

David Lodge (born in London in 1935) was a British author and literary scholar. He taught English literature at the University of Birmingham and the University of California, Berkeley, before retiring from academia in 1987 to devote himself to writing. His novels *Small World: An Academic Romance* (1984) and *Nice Work* (1988) were shortlisted for the Booker Prize.
