David Heska Wanbli Weiden

David Heska Wanbli Weiden is an enrolled citizen of the Sicangu Lakota Nation. He earned a Master of Fine Arts from the Institute of American Indian Arts and worked as a lawyer and professor. His novel “Winter Counts” was nominated for the Edgar Award and the Anthony Award and won the Thriller Award, Lefty Award, and Spur Award. The New York Times selected the book as an Editors’ Choice; National Public Radio, Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, and other publications named it one of the best books of 2020.
