David Guttmann

David Guttmann (born 1932 in Hungary) was a professor of social work at the University of Haifa, where he headed the School of Social Work from 1987 to 1992. He studied at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and received his PhD from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. Guttmann wrote, translated, and edited numerous professional publications on social work, logotherapy, gerontology, and ethics. In 2003, he received the Viktor Frankl Institute or Viktor Frankl Fund Grand Prize in Vienna for his life’s work in logotherapy. Further honors included his selection as one of the “Fifty Heroes of Social Justice” in 2012 and lifetime honorary membership in the Viktor Frankl Institute Vienna in 2014. His works appeared in Hebrew, English, Spanish, German, and Chinese.
