David Christian

David Christian, born in 1946, is a historian and one of the leading representatives of “Big History,” an approach that considers world and natural history within a shared framework. He received a D.Phil. from the University of Oxford in 1974 and was Distinguished Professor of History and director of the Big History Institute at Macquarie University. Together with Bill Gates, he founded the Big History Project. His numerous publications include “Maps of Time: An Introduction to Big History.”
