Darja Donzowa, whose real name is Agrippina Donzowa, was born in Moscow in 1952. She studied journalism at Moscow State University and initially worked as a translator before teaching French and German. In 1998, she began writing crime novels, which developed into several crime series. Her novels have been adapted for radio plays and television series. Donzowa was named Writer of the Year in Russia three times. In 2002 and 2003, one of her books received the award for Bestseller of the Year. Her novels published in German include Nichts wäscht weißer als der Tod, Spiele niemals mit dem Tod, and Den Letzten beißt der Hund.
