Danielle Allen

Danielle Allen (born 1971) is a political scientist and classicist. She served as James Bryant Conant University Professor at Harvard University and directed the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics. Her scholarly work examines political equality from antiquity to the present. Allen is a former chair of the Mellon Foundation Board and the Pulitzer Prize Board. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Philosophical Society. Her work has received, among other honors, a MacArthur Fellowship ("Genius Grant"), the Chicago Tribune Heartland Prize, the Francis Parkman Prize, and the Zócalo Book Prize.
