Dan Simmons (1948–2026) was an American writer. After studying, he worked for several years as an English teacher before turning to writing full time. He became particularly known for the science-fiction epic »The Hyperion Cantos« and the novels »Endymion« and »The Terror«. »The Terror« portrays John Franklin’s search for the Northwest Passage and combines historical events with fictional elements.
