Colin Higgins

Colin Higgins (1941–1988) was born in New Caledonia and grew up in a suburb of Sydney. He first studied English literature at Stanford University and later attended a film school in Los Angeles. His thesis, the screenplay for “Harold and Maude,” was filmed in 1971 and published as a novel the same year. Higgins wrote the screenplays for six further Hollywood comedies and directed some of his own projects. He died in Beverly Hills in 1988.
