Clint Smith

Clint Smith, born in 1988, is an American author, poet, and educator. He studied English and education at Davidson College and Harvard University. Smith worked as a journalist for The Atlantic and taught English literature in a prison in Washington. His first poetry collection, “Counting Descent,” was published in the United States in 2016 and received the Literary Award for Best Poetry Book from the Black Caucus of the American Library Association in 2017. Smith became National Poetry Slam Champion in 2014 and was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2018. His writing has appeared in publications including The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, The Paris Review, and The Harvard Educational Review.
