Clifford D. Simak

Clifford D. Simak (1904–1988) was a science-fiction author who worked as a newspaper journalist until his retirement in 1976. He became interested in the genre as a child after reading the novels of H. G. Wells. In the early 1930s, he began publishing short stories, and his first novel appeared in 1939. Among his best-known works is the episodic novel “Als es noch Menschen gab.” Simak received three Hugo Awards, a Nebula Award, and the SFWA Grand Master designation. He died in Minneapolis.
