Clement C. Moore

Clement Clarke Moore (1779–1863) was a professor in New York who wrote numerous poems and stories for his nine children. His best-known work is the poem “A Visit from St. Nicholas,” which was initially published anonymously in a daily newspaper. After a friend secretly submitted it, the poem quickly spread and became known worldwide under the title “The Night Before Christmas.”
