Christina Morina

Christina Morina, born in 1976 in Frankfurt an der Oder, is a German historian. She studied history, political science and journalism in Leipzig and at Ohio University and the University of Maryland in the United States, where she earned her doctorate in 2007. In 2019, she was appointed professor of modern and contemporary history at Bielefeld University. Earlier in her career, she worked as a research associate at Friedrich Schiller University Jena and as a DAAD specialist lecturer at the University of Amsterdam. Her research focuses on the history of National Socialism, the political and cultural history of divided and reunified Germany, and the relationship between history and memory. Her books include Die Erfindung des Marxismus (2017) and Tausend Aufbrüche (2023), for which she received the German Nonfiction Prize in 2024.
