Christianna Brand, born Mary Christianna Milne Lewis (1907–1988), was a British writer best known for her crime fiction. She spent her early years in India and later worked as a teacher, saleswoman, and secretary before becoming a writer. Her first crime novel, “Death in High Heels,” was published in 1941. One of her best-known works, “Green for Danger,” was adapted into a film starring Alastair Sim in 1946. Brand also wrote children’s books and received several awards.
