Christian Demand

Christian Demand (born 1960) studied philosophy and political science and graduated from the German School of Journalism. In the 1990s, he worked as a musician and composer before becoming a radio journalist at Bavarian Broadcasting. After earning a doctorate and habilitation in philosophy, he taught as a visiting professor of philosophical aesthetics at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. From 2006, he was a professor of art history at the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg. From 2012 onward, he served as editor of the cultural journal Merkur. His books include Die Beschämung der Philister, Wie kommt die Ordnung in die Kunst? and Die Invasion der Barbaren.
