Charlie English

Charlie English (born 1967) worked as an editor at the Guardian and later as editor-in-chief of its foreign desk. He studied electrical engineering and wrote, among other books, Das Buch vom Schnee (2009) and Der Bücherschmuggler von Timbuktu (2018). English first travelled to Africa at the age of nineteen and returned there repeatedly. He was an enthusiastic winter-sports fan.
