Charlie Chaplin

Charlie Chaplin (1889–1977) was a major comedian of the 20th century who also worked as a director, screenwriter, film editor, composer, and producer. One of his best-known works is the film *Limelight*. His only novel, *Footlights*, was discovered in the Bologna film archive in 2014, decades after it was written, and served as the basis for the film.
