Charles Willeford

Charles Ray Willeford (1919–1988) was an American writer. Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, he first served in the U.S. Army, where he became a decorated tank commander. He later worked as a radio announcer, painter, English teacher, journalist and literary critic for the Miami Herald. Willeford published numerous novels and pulp stories. He is particularly known for his Hoke Moseley series, a tetralogy featuring the Miami police detective.
