Catriona Ward was born in Washington, D.C., and grew up in the United States, Kenya, Madagascar, Yemen and Morocco. She studied at Oxford and the University of East Anglia and became known as a genre novelist. Her debut novel, Rawblood (2015), received the British Fantasy Award for Best Horror Novel. Little Eve won the Shirley Jackson Award and, in 2019, a second British Fantasy Award for Best Horror Novel. Her subsequent novels include The Last House on Needless Street (2021) and Sundial (2022), both of which became bestsellers. Ward was also the first woman to win the August Derleth Prize.
