Catalin Dorian Florescu

Catalin Dorian Florescu, born in 1967 in Timișoara, Romania, is a Romanian-Swiss writer. In 1982, he and his parents emigrated to the West. He studied psychology and psychopathology in Zurich and worked from 1995 to 2001 at a rehabilitation centre for people with drug addictions; he also trained in Gestalt therapy. Since 2001, he has published novels and short stories, including *Wunderzeit* (2001), *Zaira* (2008), *Jacob beschließt zu lieben* (2011), *Der Mann, der das Glück bringt* (2016) and *Der Nabel der Welt* (2017). His work has received several awards, including the Anna Seghers Prize, the Swiss Book Prize, the Joseph von Eichendorff Literature Prize and the Andreas Gryphius Prize. In Romania, he was awarded the Knight’s Medal for Cultural Merit.
