Carsten Quesel (born 1961) is a professor of educational sociology and heads the Centre for Educational Organization and School Quality at the University of Teacher Education FHNW. His areas of research include education policy, school and professional development, evaluation, and political socialization. He studied philosophy and social sciences in Münster and Osnabrück, where he received his doctorate in 1992. From 1995 to 2001, he was a research assistant at the University of Teacher Education Schwäbisch Gmünd. He subsequently led a Swiss National Science Foundation project on young people’s political thinking at the University of Fribourg and then moved to the University of Teacher Education Solothurn, which was incorporated into the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland in 2006. His research stays included Angers, London, Manchester, and Nottingham.
