Caroline Lawrence was born in London and grew up in California. She studied Ancient History and other subjects related to the classical world at Cambridge, and taught at a school in London for ten years. In 2001, she turned to writing full time. That year, the first book in her best-known children’s series, The Roman Mysteries, was published; it was followed by 16 further volumes. The series was adapted for television by the BBC in 2007 and 2008. Her other works include the children’s series Roman Quest.
