Caroline Bernard

Caroline Bernard is the pseudonym of the literary scholar and author Tania Schlie. Schlie worked as a freelance author for more than twenty years and published novels as well as nonfiction books on cultural history. Under the name Caroline Bernard, she primarily published biographical novels about strong women, including *The Muse of Vienna*, *Rendezvous at Café de Flore*, *The Woman of Montparnasse*, *Fräulein Paula and the Beauty of Women*, *The Daring Woman*, *I Am Frida* and *Frida Kahlo and the Colors of Life*. The latter became a bestseller and was published in numerous countries. Schlie described Simone de Beauvoir’s analyses of women’s role in society as an important influence on her decision to begin writing.
