Carolin Philipps, born in 1954 in Meppen, is a German author of children’s and young adult books. She studied history and English in Hanover and Bonn and began publishing books for young readers in 1989. Her work often addresses social and political issues and focuses on people who differ from the norm. Her notable books include *Träume wohnen überall*, *Der Baum der Tränen*, *Talitha* and *Milchkaffee und Streuselkuchen*. Her books have been translated into numerous languages. For *Milchkaffee und Streuselkuchen*, she received the Mentioning Award of the UNESCO Prize for Tolerance and Peace in 2000. In 2011, she received the Austrian Youth Book Prize and the Swiss Bookstar Award.
