Carla Guelfenbein (born 1959 in Santiago de Chile) is a Chilean writer and screenwriter. As a young woman, she left Chile in opposition to Augusto Pinochet’s regime and studied biology and design in England. Her novels have been translated into numerous languages. Her works published in German include *The Woman of Our Lives*, *The Rest Is Silence* and *Swimming Naked*. She received the prestigious Premio Alfaguara for *Silent Hearts*.
