Carl Zuckmayer

Carl Zuckmayer (1896–1977) was a German author and playwright. His play *Der fröhliche Weinberg* brought him his literary breakthrough in 1925 and earned him the Kleist Prize. In 1928, he was awarded the Georg Büchner Prize. Zuckmayer died in 1977.
