Candy Gourlay

Candy Gourlay was born in the Philippines and grew up under a dictatorship. She is an author of books for young people, which have been nominated for numerous awards, including the Carnegie Medal. Her debut novel won the National Children’s Book Award of the Philippines and was included by BookTrust in its list of the 100 best books of the past hundred years. Gourlay met her husband during a revolution.
