Burkhard Schmid

Burkhard Schmid was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1955. He studied German literature, theatre studies and philosophy in Marburg and Berlin and took acting courses with students of Lee Strasberg and Jerzy Grotowski. Schmid was a member of the touring theatre company Hundertfleck and travelled through the United States with the New York Street Theatre Caravan. He worked as a translator and adapted literary works for radio drama. He also directed numerous radio and audiobook productions. His radio-drama work was named “Radio Drama of the Month” three times; he also received the Kurd Laßwitz Prize for “Unerwartete Ereignisse” by Heinz von Cramer.
