Bruno Hillebrand (born 1935 in the Rhineland) was a German writer and literary scholar. From 1971, he taught modern German literary history as a professor at the University of Mainz. He was also a member of the Academy of Sciences and Literature and the Free Academy of the Arts, and served as a visiting professor at several universities in Japan and the United States. Hillebrand published poetry, essays, works of literary and cultural philosophy, and the novel “Versiegelte Gärten” (1979). His other works include “Sehrreale Verse” (1966), “Reale Verse” (1971), “Ästhetik des Nihilismus” (1991), and studies of Gottfried Benn and Friedrich Nietzsche.
