Britta Habekost (born in 1982 in Heilbronn, Germany) studied the humanities, including literature and art history, and worked, among other roles, as a museum guide. Under her maiden name, Britta Hasler, she published the historical crime novels *Das Sterben der Bilder* and *Bilder des Bösen*, as well as the crime novels *Ein dunkles Spiel* and *Eine dunkle Lüge*. Her other works include *Stadt der Mörder* and *Melodie des Bösen*. She co-wrote the *Elwenfels* crime series with her husband.
