Brian Stanley studied history at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, where he also completed a PhD on the role of missionary enthusiasm in Victorian religion. He taught at theological colleges and universities in London, Bristol, and Cambridge. From 1996 to 2001, he directed the Currents in World Christianity Project at the University of Cambridge. He was also a Fellow of St Edmund’s College, Cambridge, from 1996 to 2008, and joined the University of Edinburgh in January 2009.
