Boy Lornsen (1922–1995) was a German author of children’s and young adult literature. He was born in Keitum on the island of Sylt, the son of a sea captain. After the Second World War, he studied sculpture in Hanover and initially worked as a master stone sculptor before becoming a freelance writer in 1967. His first children’s book, Robbi, Tobbi und das Fliewatüüt, was published in 1967 and became his best-known work. Lornsen also wrote poetry, stories and a novel, as well as material for radio and television. He received the Friedrich Bödecker Prize for his complete body of work.
