Bogdan Musial

Bogdan Musial, born in 1960 in Wielopole in southern Poland, is a historian. After initially working in the coal-mining industry in Katowice, he studied history, political science and sociology in Hanover and Manchester. He earned his doctorate on the persecution of Jews in occupied Poland and completed his habilitation at the University of Warsaw in 2005. Musial worked, among other institutions, at the German Historical Institute in Warsaw and the Institute of National Remembrance. From 2010 to 2015, he was a professor at the University of Warsaw. He has published numerous books on the history of the Holocaust and on German, Soviet and Polish history. His 2009 book “Soviet Partisans: Myth and Reality” attracted particular attention.
