Birgit-Cathrin Duval worked as a freelance journalist, photographer and guide in the Southern Black Forest Nature Park. Her travel reports appeared in numerous newspapers and magazines, and her reporting and photography received several international awards. Among her books are *Kraftorte im nördlichen Schwarzwald* and a further volume about mystical places in the Southern Black Forest. She also authored the Schwarzwald-Kraftorte series.
