Bill Willingham (born 1956) is an American comic book writer and artist. He began his career illustrating fantasy role-playing games before writing and drawing his own series, including “Elementals,” “Pantheon,” and the fantasy comic “Ironwood,” from the late 1980s onward. For DC Comics, he wrote stories set in Neil Gaiman’s “Sandman” universe and spin-offs featuring Thessaly. In 2002, he launched “Fables,” his best-known creation, which led to the spin-offs “Jack of Fables” and “Fairest.” His other work includes “Shadowpact,” “Robin,” “Justice Society of America,” “Warriors Three,” and “Angel.” He also wrote the novel “Peter & Max: A Fables Novel,” as well as “Down the Mysterly River” and “The Remarkable Mr. Finn.” “Fables” received 14 Eisner Awards.
