Bettina Matthaei

Bettina Matthaei is a cookbook author and food journalist who also worked as a graphic designer and animation filmmaker. She published numerous cookbooks, including *Gemüse kann auch anders*, *Thailand* and *Vegetarisch vom Feinsten*. Her award-winning books are particularly noted for their focus on spices. As the owner of the Hamburg spice manufacturer 1001 Gewürze, Matthaei developed spice blends for private customers, chefs and the food-service industry. She also conducted workshops on the use of spices. Travels to various spice-growing regions around the world provided inspiration for her recipes.
