Bertrand Piccard (born 1958) comes from the Piccard family of explorers and is a trained psychiatrist. In 1999, he and Brian Jones became the first people to circumnavigate the Earth by balloon. They recounted the journey in the book *Around the World with the Wind*, which became an international bestseller. In 2015–2016, Piccard and André Borschberg completed a circumnavigation of the Earth in a solar-powered aircraft.
