Bernie Krause

Bernie Krause (born 1938 in Detroit) studied violin and classical composition. In 1963, he became a guitarist with the Weavers. As a specialist in electronic music, he worked with artists including the Byrds, the Doors, Stevie Wonder, and George Harrison, and contributed to the soundtracks of films such as “Apocalypse Now,” “Rosemary’s Baby,” “Love Story,” and “Doctor Dolittle.” He also released five solo albums. In 1975, Krause returned to university and earned a doctorate with a dissertation on bioacoustics. During his research travels, he recorded 15,000 species and around 4,000 hours of soundscapes from different habitats.
