Bernhard Giger

Bernhard Giger (born 1952 in Bern) is a photographer, filmmaker, and journalist. After training as a photographer with Albert Winkler, he worked as a freelance photographer from 1972, mainly in the fields of art and theatre. From 1973 to 1981, he was a program staff member at Kellerkino Bern, then worked as an editor for media and culture at the newspaper Der Bund and later as head of the culture section at Berner Zeitung. From 1981 onward, he directed feature and documentary films for cinema and television, including Winterstadt (1981), Der Gemeindepräsident (1984), Tage des Zweifels (1991), and Oeschenen (2004). He headed Kornhausforum Bern from 2009 to 2020.
